In recognition of the beauty and appeal of bronze sculptures that depict our country's superb natural heritage, the Wildlands Conservation Trust is launching a series of unique, limited edition small bronzes, which, we trust, will be of interest to discerning collectors.

Over the next five years, the Trust is to produce a series of bronzes of "Birds of KwaZulu-Natal" - each commissioned from a leading KZN sculptor and to be issued in April of each year.

The first is a life-sized, Limited Edition Bronze Scops Owl (18.5cm X 18cm), sculpted by Sarah Richards and limited to an edition of only thirty. The edition is available at R4, 500 each, and collectors who purchase, will be assured of a first preference at the same price for the next four bronzes in the series. All proceeds from the Ltd. Ed. Bronze series will benefit the Trust directly.

Richards has chosen to depict the Scops Owl in it's favoured daylight habitat - camouflaged close to a tree trunk, where it characteristically depresses its feathers and raises it's 'ear' tufts, half closing its eyes to create the illusion of a tree stump.

We envisage further bird bronzes in the series to be of a similar scale and, therefore, suitable for presentation as a dedicated collection.
